Shah Rukh Khan has lost Rs 2,490 crore on paper in a single year, and he is still miles ahead of every other actor in India.
According to the Hurun India Rich List 2026, released on September 24, the superstar's estimated net worth now stands at Rs 10,000 crore. That is down from Rs 12,490 crore in the 2025 edition, a fall of roughly 20 percent. Yet the crown has not moved an inch. SRK remains India's richest actor, and by a margin that makes the rest of the leaderboard look like a different league.
SRK net worth 2026: the numbers at a glance
Here is how the figures stack up, as reported by The Indian Express, Hindustan Times and Business Today.
Shah Rukh Khan sits at number one with an estimated Rs 10,000 crore. Amitabh Bachchan is second at Rs 4,000 crore. Salman Khan, a new entry this year, is third at Rs 3,000 crore. Hrithik Roshan rounds out the top four at Rs 2,500 crore.
Business Today points out the most striking detail: even after the drop, Khan's fortune is larger than the combined net worth of the next three actors on the list. Mint notes that the four actors together hold Rs 19,500 crore, which means SRK alone accounts for more than half of it.
There is also a middle data point worth knowing. Earlier in 2026, the Hurun Global Rich List had pegged Shah Rukh's wealth at Rs 10,800 crore, so the slide from the 2025 peak appears to have happened in stages rather than overnight.
Why did Shah Rukh Khan's net worth fall?
Hurun has not framed the drop as a crisis, and neither should fans. Hindustan Times stresses that these numbers are estimates that can move depending on the values assigned to private companies, investments and other assets. ABP Live puts it even more plainly, describing them as estimated wealth figures rather than independently audited personal balance sheets.
That matters, because almost all of SRK's fortune is tied up in privately held businesses rather than in a pile of cash. When the assumed valuation of those businesses is recalibrated, the headline number moves with it. Business Today describes the 2026 figure as a downward recalibration from his recorded peak.
It is also worth remembering the timeline. As Business Today notes, Khan had no theatrical release across 2024 and 2025, following his triple run of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki in 2023. Despite that long gap, his empire continued to operate at a scale none of his peers can match.
Where SRK's money actually comes from
Film fees and brand endorsements are only part of the story. According to the reports on the Hurun list, the backbone of Shah Rukh Khan's wealth is two businesses.
The first is Red Chillies Entertainment, which Business Today describes as a full-service studio spanning film production and visual effects.
The second is his stake in Knight Riders Sports. That company holds majority stakes in the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, along with overseas franchises in other global leagues. Business Today calls this a revenue model insulated from the unpredictable cycles of box-office performance, which helps explain how SRK stayed on top through two years without a release.
Mint adds that the Hurun entry is for Shah Rukh Khan and family, and that their reported wealth is more than double the next entry on the list.
How the rest of Bollywood's rich list moved
The 2026 list was not a story of decline for everyone. Business Today reports that Amitabh Bachchan's estimated net worth jumped from Rs 1,630 crore in 2025 to Rs 4,000 crore, driven by family office investments and private real estate. Mint lists his early bets on Justdial and PB Fintech among his investments.
Salman Khan made his debut on the list at Rs 3,000 crore. Mint links his wealth to ventures including Being Human Clothing and FRSH. Hrithik Roshan climbed from Rs 2,160 crore to Rs 2,500 crore on the back of his activewear and lifestyle brand HRX.
Some familiar names dropped off entirely. Business Today notes that Juhi Chawla, valued at Rs 7,790 crore in 2025, and producer Karan Johar, at Rs 1,880 crore last year, were both absent from the 2026 roster.
The timing of this list is interesting. Shah Rukh is about to end his break from the big screen. His next film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is slated to release in theatres on December 24, 2026, and also stars his daughter Suhana Khan.
Whether a big Christmas release changes his number on next year's list is anyone's guess, since Hurun's figures depend largely on business valuations. But one thing is clear from the 2026 edition: even in a down year on paper, Shah Rukh Khan's lead over the rest of Indian cinema is enormous.
