Salman Khan has spent more than three decades as one of the most talked-about people in India. Just don't expect a film about it. On the premiere episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, the superstar said plainly: "A biopic of my life will never be made. My life will go to my grave."

The line came during a rapid-fire round run by Karisma Kapoor, who joined the episode midway. The episode began streaming on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026, and Salman's answer quickly became one of the most-shared moments of the final season's first night.

How the biopic question came up

According to News18 and Filmibeat, Karisma asked Salman which director he would pick to helm a biopic on his life. She offered four names: Sooraj Barjatya, Kabir Khan, David Dhawan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Salman didn't pick just one. Instead, he matched each filmmaker to a different version of his story. "Depending. If you want to make a comedy on my life, then David Dhawan. If you want to make a traditional tragic love story, then Sanjay Leela Bhansali. If you want to make a beautiful love story after love story, it would be Sooraj Barjatya. If you want to make action kind of a love story, of all the things that have happened in my life etc then Kabir Khan," he said, as quoted by News18.

Then he shut the idea down: "But a biopic of my life will never be made. My life will go to my grave."

It's a neat answer, because each name maps onto a chapter of his career. Barjatya directed him in Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Bhansali in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dhawan in comedies like Judwaa and Biwi No. 1, and Kabir Khan in Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Why it fits Salman's stand on privacy

The biopic answer matches what Salman said elsewhere in the episode. Pinkvilla quoted him on privacy: "Ever since I was 15 or 16... this is something I learned from my father... I never wanted to talk about my personal life in public. The bedroom is the bedroom, while the living room is the entire country."

He has also acted when others tried to tell his story for him. We reported earlier on his legal challenge in "Salman Khan Takes Kala Hiran to Delhi High Court — Personality Rights, Blackbuck Case, and the Film He Wants Stopped." On Koffee With Karan, he made the same point in a lighter tone.

'Last film not happening yet, bro'

Karisma also asked which actress he would choose as his co-star if he ever made his last film. Salman brushed the question off. "Last film not happening yet, bro. Not yet," he said, according to News18 and Filmibeat. Karisma backed him up: "Long time for that."

So the message was clear: no biopic, and no retirement plans yet.

The other big moments from Episode 1

Pinkvilla listed seven major statements from the premiere. Among them:

On Karisma Kapoor: when Karan said Karisma had called their relationship "platonic," Salman joked, "She is lying. The longest living affair. She left me and got married. I was so heartbroken," before laughing. Karisma responded, "What is he saying? You are giving them a lot of content."

On marriage and children: "Nobody stopped me from getting married; I stopped myself... But yes, kids will come into the picture one day. I do want to have children at some point."

On being Salman: "The best thing about being Salman is Salman, and the worst thing about being Salman is also Salman. Gabbar ko Gabbar hi maar sakta hai."

On Ranbir Kapoor in Animal and Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar: "Two different kinds of performances. You cannot compare them." He added that Ranveer "had to control all his energy" for Dhurandhar.

On his old Koffee answers: "When I see my stuff, where I have said some things earlier, like the virgin thing, even I cringe. But that's fine. That was then. Move on."

Koffee With Karan's final season, and what's next

The Times of India reports that Season 9 is the show's last, ending a run that began in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Salman opened the season with a solo appearance. He was earlier on the show in Season 4 with his father, Salim Khan, and in the Season 5 100th episode with his brothers Arbaaz and Sohail Khan.

Hindustan Times reported that in his own rapid-fire round, Karan said his ultimate wish was to direct Shah Rukh Khan and Salman together again. No such film has been announced. New episodes drop every Wednesday at 7 PM on JioHotstar, Hindustan Times reported.

The Times of India lists Apoorva Lakhia's Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace and a Vamshi Paidipally action entertainer titled Monster, announced for Eid 2027.
