Vijay Salgaonkar has done it again. Drishyam 3: The Conclusion, the final chapter of Ajay Devgn's crime-thriller franchise, crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India in just five days, according to figures from trade tracker Sacnilk reported by India Today on October 7.
The film, directed by Abhishek Pathak, released in theatres on October 2. Here is how the run has unfolded so far, and why the trade is treating it as one of the biggest Hindi releases of 2026.
Drishyam 3 box office collection day by day
According to the Sacnilk figures carried by India Today, Drishyam 3 opened with Rs 62 crore net in India on Friday, added Rs 53.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 61 crore on Sunday. Collections dipped on Monday to Rs 21 crore, and the film earned Rs 19 crore on Tuesday from 16,056 shows.
That takes the five-day India net total to Rs 216.50 crore, India Today reports. Its India gross stands at Rs 259.80 crore, and the film has collected Rs 81.50 crore gross overseas, including Rs 9.50 crore on day five alone. Combined, the worldwide gross after five days is Rs 341.30 crore.
Hindustan Times, reporting a day earlier, put the four-day India net at Rs 197.50 crore and the worldwide gross at Rs 303 crore after Monday, noting that the Monday figure was an almost 65 percent drop from Sunday. A fall on the first weekday is normal for most big releases, and the film still cleared the Rs 300 crore global mark that day.
Box office numbers in India are estimates, and different trackers often report slightly different totals for the same day. The figures above are attributed to the outlets and trackers that published them.
The records Ajay Devgn has broken
The Rs 62 crore opening is the biggest of Ajay Devgn's career. ABP Live reports that it comfortably beats the Rs 43.5 crore opening of Singham Again, his previous best. ABP Live also reports that the film's Rs 21 crore first Monday is a career record for the actor, ahead of Singham Again's Rs 18 crore.
In the wider industry picture, ABP Live calls Drishyam 3 the second-biggest opener of 2026 after Dhurandhar 2. Hindustan Times goes further, describing the Rs 62 crore start as the third-highest opening recorded by a Hindi film, behind Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and ahead of blockbusters such as Pathaan and Animal.
For a franchise that began as a remake of a Malayalam thriller and built its audience slowly, that is a remarkable start to its final instalment.
Who is in Drishyam: The Conclusion
Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, the cable operator who will do anything to protect his family. Shriya Saran is back as Nandini and Ishita Dutta returns as Anju, while Tabu reprises her role as Meera Deshmukh, India Today notes. Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat join the series in new roles, and the cast also includes Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla and Kamlesh Sawant.
Abhishek Pathak, who directed Drishyam 2, returns to helm the third film. The franchise began with Drishyam in 2015 and continued with Drishyam 2 in 2022.
Part of the buzz is about the writing. Screenwriter Aamil Keeyan Khan told the Free Press Journal, as quoted by Hindustan Times, that he wrote well over 100 drafts to get the ending right. "It was an enormous mountain to climb," he said, adding that the team had to work out how to surprise an audience for the third time while keeping the franchise's mix of humour, family, emotion, drama and thrills.
What comes next at the box office
With Rs 200 crore behind it, the film's next targets are the Rs 225 crore and Rs 250 crore India net milestones, according to India Today, provided it holds through the remaining weekdays and its second weekend.
Two things will matter most. The first is how steady the weekday numbers stay, since a film that holds well from Monday to Thursday usually has a strong second weekend. The second is the overseas run, which is already contributing a sizeable share of the worldwide gross. For now, Ajay Devgn has the biggest opening of his career and a franchise finale that audiences are turning up for.
